The shortage of electric bus drivers has almost been resolved in Nizhny Novgorod.

      September 5, 2026 07:12 Society Since the beginning of 2026, more than 20 new drivers have been hired by the "Nizhny Novgorod Electric Transport" company. As a result, the company has managed to almost completely close the shortage of electric bus drivers, reported the Regional Transport Systems Development Center.

      At the same time, the company still requires trolleybus drivers. Recruitment for these positions is ongoing.

      The increase in the number of drivers has allowed for the extension of the operating hours of the electric bus route E-16 starting from September 1. Previously, service ended at 6-7 PM, but now the last trips are made after 10 PM.

      Vladislav Kuptsov, the deputy director of "Nizhny Novgorod Electric Transport," stated that the company has established a comprehensive system for attracting employees. This includes training, relocation assistance, and creating comfortable working conditions on the line.

      "For us, it is important that a person who comes into the profession feels support from day one: from training and relocation assistance to comfortable working conditions on the line," noted Kuptsov.

      New solutions are also being implemented for current drivers. In the dispatch point at the "Torpedo" residential complex, daily medical examinations are conducted using a special automatic device without the involvement of regular medical staff. Drivers can independently measure their blood pressure, take an alcohol test, and receive clearance for their trips. The CRTS notes that this reduces the time taken for the procedure.

      Training for trolleybus drivers continues at the "Nizhny Novgorod Electric Transport" training center. The company covers the costs of training, and during their preparation, trainees receive a stipend. Classes for the new group started on September 1.
