      August 24, 2026 18:23 Incidents The police detained a 50-year-old man from Nizhny Novgorod, who is suspected of inciting hatred. According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region, the man left comments with threats of violence against a group of people based on their nationality in a popular social media community. The suspect was identified by employees of the Center for Countering Extremism. The detention was carried out in cooperation with the National Guard and the regional FSB. A criminal case has been initiated against the Nizhny Novgorod resident under paragraph "b" of part 1 of article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation for inciting hatred or enmity and humiliating human dignity. The man admitted his guilt. He could face up to five years in prison. It was previously reported that a Nizhny Novgorod blogger was unable to initiate a criminal case after a scandal involving the wife of ex-husband Ksenia Borodina.
