Legal support for participants of the SVO has been expanded in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      On August 25, 2026, at 18:12, the Society of the House of National Unity and the State Legal Bureau of the Nizhny Novgorod Region signed an agreement on cooperation to assist participants of the Special Military Operation (SMO) and their family members. The non-profit organization emphasized that the partnership aims to increase the volume of free legal assistance and improve its quality. As noted by the head of the House of National Unity, Sergey Fedorov, the House of National Unity brings together non-profit organizations and socially responsible businesses to address significant social issues, and the signing of the agreement with the State Legal Bureau will mark a new stage of interaction in the interests of fighters, veterans of the SMO, and their relatives. According to him, the assistance of qualified lawyers is in demand among participants of the special operation and their loved ones. He stated that the coordination center for supporting military personnel regularly receives requests related to the processing of regional and federal payments, contract terms, obtaining documents, and others. The center's hotline has been operational since October 2022. During this time, nearly 170,000 requests have been received and processed via phone at 8 (831) 233-33-40 in collaboration with specialists from various agencies. Some of these required professional legal support, so about 1,200 requests were forwarded to the State Legal Bureau of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. Additionally, its employees conducted 65 consultations in municipalities of the region as part of the outreach project "With Heart for Our Own."

      "Professional consultations, preparation of requests, petitions, and statements help our fighters and their loved ones to timely resolve the difficulties that arise," he emphasized.

      The director of the State Legal Bureau, Maxim Fomichev, called the agreement a logical step in the development of joint work. He explained that the task is not to provide fragmented consultations but to offer comprehensive support, where legal assistance is combined with social, humanitarian, and psychological support. According to him, the agreement will allow for a clear pathway to be established for each applicant—from identifying the problem to its complete resolution.

      "In essence, we are creating a single point of entry, where a person does not need to search for who is responsible for what—they receive assistance in full," Fomichev noted.
