A man was sentenced for attempting to burn a woman and her grandson alive in Gorodets.

      On August 27, 2026, at 14:39, Incidents: The Gorodetsky City Court sentenced a man to 12 years and six months in a strict regime colony for attempting to murder his partner and her grandson, as well as for arson of property.

      As established by the court, on the evening of October 15, 2025, the man, who was in a state of alcoholic intoxication, had a quarrel with his partner. With the intent to kill the woman and her grandson, he took a canister of flammable liquid, doused the victims with it, and set them on fire.

      As a result, the woman suffered serious harm to her health. The resulting fire also damaged her apartment and destroyed her property.

      The convicted man did not admit guilt. The court found him guilty of attempting to murder two people, committed with particular cruelty and in a dangerous manner, as well as of willfully destroying and damaging someone else's property by arson.

      He was sentenced to 12 years and six months of imprisonment in a strict regime colony, followed by one year of restriction of freedom. In addition, the court ordered the convicted man to pay 331,266 rubles and 40 kopecks in material damages to the victim and 1 million rubles in compensation for moral damages. Her grandson was awarded 500,000 rubles in compensation for moral damages.

      The sentence has not yet entered into legal force.
