The memory of Chkalov was honored in Moscow in celebration of the 90th anniversary of his legendary flight.

      On July 21, 2026, at 12:17, Society In Moscow, commemorative events were held for the 90th anniversary of the non-stop flight of Valery Chkalov's crew along the route Moscow - Udd Island. The main events took place on July 19 in the "Khodynskoye Pole" park, where in 2024, the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region, together with the government of Moscow, installed a monument to the pilot. The program included a rally and a flower-laying ceremony. Family events were organized for guests: master classes, a kite festival, a drawing competition "Drawing the Sky," a themed photo zone, and other activities. There was also a concert program featuring artists and creative groups. One of the central events was the opening of the exhibition "Through Cyclones to the Bay of Happiness" from the collections of the V.P. Chkalov Memorial Museum in Chkalovsk. The film "Valery Chkalov" was shown in the park's summer cinema. On July 20, the commemorative events continued at the Necropolis by the Kremlin Wall, where a flower-laying ceremony took place at the burial site of the legendary pilot. Nizhny Novgorod region Governor Gleb Nikitin noted that the feat of Chkalov's crew became an important page in the history of aviation. "Exactly 90 years ago, a non-stop flight of over 9,000 kilometers became not just a record but a real breakthrough in the development of aviation. Today, it is difficult to comprehend the titanic effort required for that historical route. But it is such events that define the vector of technological development and serve as a moral compass for future generations," said the regional head. Representatives from the Nizhny Novgorod region, Moscow, the aviation community, as well as descendants of the legendary crew members - Valery Chkalov, Alexander Belyakov, and Georgy Baidukov - participated in the events. Note: In July 1936, the crew of the ANT-25 aircraft, consisting of Valery Chkalov, Georgy Baidukov, and Alexander Belyakov, covered 9,374 kilometers without landing in 56 hours and 20 minutes. The route passed through the Arctic and the Far East. On July 22, the aircraft landed on Udd Island in the Sea of Okhotsk.
