      Defender of HC "Torpedo" Bogdan Konyushkov explained why he decided to continue his career in North America. Recall that the native of Penza was selected by "Montreal" in the 2023 NHL draft with the overall 110th pick.

      In early July, it became known that the 23-year-old Konyushkov signed a two-way rookie contract with the Montreal Canadiens, while next season he will play for the Nizhny Novgorod club on loan.

      In a conversation with a correspondent from "Sovetsky Sport," Konyushkov admitted that he does not consider his departure premature, although he understands that he could achieve more in Russia.

      "The main goal has not yet been achieved. But for me, there is a certain trait, after what age I will not be able to leave. There is no rush for me. I will be 24 now, after 25 I will not go anywhere. I don’t want to regret later that I didn’t even try," the hockey player noted.

      Konyushkov emphasized that he is fully focused on working with the Nizhny Novgorod club and intends to meet the requirements of the head coach.

      "For me, 'Torpedo' is the first team in the KHL. I have special feelings for it. Therefore, I don’t think I will be mentally in another place," he said.

      Bogdan also admitted that he would not see anything wrong with not going overseas, but he is sure that in that case, he would regret the missed opportunity.

      "If such an option exists, and I do not take advantage of it, then I will definitely regret it. I want to go and then either regret it or not regret it," concluded the defender.

      It is noteworthy that a year ago, Konyushkov spoke about his desire to spend his entire professional career with one club.
