The "garage amnesty" has been extended until 2031.

      July 21, 2026 15:35 Society The State Duma has passed a law extending the simplified procedure for the registration of garages and the land plots beneath them. This was reported by the press service of the State Duma. The duration of the "garage amnesty," which was set to expire on September 1, 2026, has been extended for another five years - until September 1, 2031. Citizens will still be able to register individual garages and the land plots beneath them in a simplified manner. According to Rosreestr, since the program began, more than 746,000 garages and land plots have already been registered across the country. According to co-author of the amendments, Chairman of the Committee on State Construction and Legislation of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Pavel Krasheninnikov, at least another 500,000 such objects will be registered. It should be noted that the "Garage Amnesty" has been in effect since September 1, 2021. It allows for the registration of capital garages built before the introduction of the Urban Planning Code of the Russian Federation, as well as obtaining rights to land plots that are in state or municipal ownership.
