The fate of the closed DOSAAF shooting range in Nizhny Novgorod has become known.

      The Nizhny Novgorod Ministry of Sports intends to seek options for restoring the largest shooting range of DOSAAF in the region, located in Nizhny Novgorod, which ceased operations in 2026. This was reported by the head of the ministry, Dmitry Kabailo, on his MAX channel.

      The old shooting range had two shooting galleries of 50 meters and 235 units of equipment. Sports training, patriotic preparation, and shooting with both small-caliber and large-caliber weapons were conducted there.

      Currently, the shooting range is in unsatisfactory condition and does not meet the requirements of the National Guard, which is why its operations were halted.

      "Of course, as the Ministry of Sports, we are concerned about the situation. There are requests for the restoration of the shooting range's operations from the regional federation of shooting sports, from law enforcement agencies, and from everyone who came here to practice," Kabailo wrote.

      The minister also reported that together with the acting chairman of the regional branch of DOSAAF Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region, Arkady Popov, he visited the site to assess its condition.

      "Together we will look for options to revive the shooting range. There are no other such facilities in the region, so it must definitely operate," emphasized Dmitry Kabailo.
