The ex-official Bortnikov was acquitted in Nizhny Novgorod.

      The former acting head of the government affairs department of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Yuri Bortnikov, has been acquitted under part 1 of article 285.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (misuse of budget funds). This was reported by the press service of the regional court to IA "In the city N". Initially, the former official was charged with embezzlement, then with exceeding official powers (part 3 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Recall that Yuri Bortnikov was detained on February 21, 2025, on charges of embezzling several million rubles belonging to the regional budget. According to the investigation, in 2023 this money, specifically 5.38 million rubles, was spent on the renovation of an official apartment with an area of 150 square meters on Slavyanskaya Street. The former official and his lawyers insisted that there was no embezzlement. Investigators reached the same conclusion. The embezzlement charges against the former official were dropped, and at the previous court session, the prosecutor changed the charges to part 1 of article 285.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
