Denis Glushakov assessed FC "Nizhny Novgorod"'s chances of returning to the RPL.
Former midfielder of the Russian national team and ex-player of "Pary NN" Denis Glushakov spoke about the prospects of FC "Nizhny Novgorod" in the new season, as well as assessed the change of the head coach in the team. Glushakov only watched excerpts of the first round match, where the Nizhny Novgorod team defeated "Rotor" with a score of 4:2. However, what he saw left him with a good impression.
"It's a good team. There are certainly chances for promotion to the RPL. The team itself has changed, the coach has changed," he told a correspondent from NIA "Nizhny Novgorod."
The former player expressed hope that fans would come to the stadium more often and actively support the team. In his opinion, the club has all the conditions for this - modern infrastructure, a beautiful stadium, and a city that attracts tourists.
"When 'Nizhny Novgorod' played many years ago, people loved football, and the stadium was filled with fans. I would like it to be like that here again, as it was before," noted Glushakov.
The athlete also commented on the personnel changes that occurred in the club at the end of the last season. Recall that three rounds before the end of the championship, the management of what was then "Pary NN" terminated the contract with Alexey Shpilevsky. Vadim Garanin took over as head coach. However, this did not help the Nizhny Novgorod team remain in the elite. According to Glushakov, the decision to change the coach was delayed. He also supported Garanin's appointment.
"It seems to me it was delayed. They tolerated for a long time and gave many chances. I thought the coach would be replaced earlier, but I didn't know who would be appointed. Yes, Garanin was in the Media League, but he also worked in 'Sochi' and in other 'Premier League' clubs. He has the necessary work experience. It doesn't matter where he came from," Glushakov stated.
In addition, the ex-footballer noted that the level of the Media League has significantly increased in recent years, as many renowned footballers who ended their careers in the RPL or temporarily left professional football are performing there. Earlier, Glushakov mentioned who he would support in the final of the World Cup in football. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
