On July 6, 2026, at 15:17, Culture and Leisure The documentary film "Our Children" (16+) produced by the ON Media holding, part of the MTS group, will be shown out of competition at the X festival of new Russian cinema "Gorky fest" (18+) in Nizhny Novgorod. A special screening will take place on July 9 at the "Record" Culture Center. The project will be presented to the audience by the director, screenwriter, and general producer Kirill Kosolapov. Registration for the event can be done on the official festival website. The online premiere of the film took place on April 25 exclusively on the online cinema platform "KION". The film continues the theme raised in the detective thriller "Prints," but shifts the conversation from artistic form to the realm of real practices and solutions. The project is based on the idea of the greatest psychologist of the 20th century, Erik Erikson, that in early childhood, a person develops basic trust (or mistrust) in the world. The experiences a child has with adults directly affect their ability to build relationships and feel safe. If this support is absent, the consequences can manifest throughout life.

Today in Russia, about 30,000 children are raised in orphanages. Life in a closed system often leads to difficulties in socialization, risks of addiction, and the repetition of adverse scenarios. The problem affects not only specific individuals but society as a whole. "Our Children" has become the 11th work in Kirill Kosolapov's documentary cycle "Other People?". The feature film combines the experiences of leading non-profit organizations - "Arithmetic of Good," "Our Children," "Sunny City," "SOS Children's Villages," and others. The focus is on existing support models: mentoring, foster and adoptive families, programs to help parents undergoing treatment for addictions without separation from their children. Among the participants in the film is psychologist and publicist Alexander Asmolov, who explains the consequences of deprivation and discusses how a child perceives separation from family as a loss of safety. One of the key characters is a multi-child foster mother and program director of the "Our Children" foundation, Svetlana Stroganova. Through her experience, the theme of adoption, including teenagers and children with disabilities, is revealed.

The film's general producer Kirill Kosolapov noted that their films are always dedicated to the search for light and solutions, rather than the fixation on negativity and hopelessness. According to him, the creators strive to show the possibility of positive changes where there is compassion, using examples of already existing successful practices and through the fates of the characters. The online cinema "KION" has previously addressed the theme of difficult childhood and foster parenting. Among the most popular projects on the platform is the series "My Mom's Penguins" with Makar Khlebnikov and Alexandra Ursulyak, dedicated to the life of an unconventional family where foster children are raised.
