About 70,000 tickets are purchased annually by youth aged 14 to 22 as part of the "Pushkin Card" program in Nizhny Novgorod. This was reported by Tatiana Orlova, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture of Nizhny Novgorod, during a presentation on the topic of “The ‘Pushkin Card’ as a means of forming a healthy cultural environment and preventing antisocial behavior among youth” at a meeting of the city interdepartmental commission for combating drug abuse and illegal drug trafficking in Nizhny Novgorod. As Tatiana Orlova noted, society today faces the need to find effective tools for engaging youth in cultural life and preventing antisocial phenomena. One such tool has been the "Pushkin Card" – a state program launched in 2021. “Thirty-three municipal cultural institutions – theaters, museums, a planetarium, libraries, cinemas, and community centers – have become participants in the ‘Pushkin Card’ program. Annually, about 70,000 tickets are purchased through the program for performances, film screenings, excursions, planetarium events, and activities at community centers and libraries. With the launch of the program, attendance at cultural institutions among youth has increased by 20-30%,” Tatiana Orlova said, adding that participation in cultural life through the "Pushkin Card" helps prevent antisocial behavior by replacing destructive forms of leisure – instead of aimless pastimes, youth attend cultural events, as well as fostering positive values – art cultivates aesthetic taste, morality, and respect for traditions. Furthermore, attending events together contributes to the development of communication skills and the formation of friendships. Cultural leisure has a therapeutic effect, helps cope with emotional tension, and an acquaintance with art teaches analysis, reasoning, and drawing conclusions. According to Tatiana Orlova, as part of the development of the "Pushkin Card" program, cultural institutions are systematically expanding the list of events available to youth. The summer season of 2026 within the "Pushkin Card" program opens up wide opportunities for young people for cultural and intellectual development. Cultural institutions offer a diverse and rich program: from musical experiences at the concerts “Music Among the Stars” – “Seasons”, “Yesenin” at the planetarium – to educational and creative events in museums. For example, at the "Mikula" museum, guests can immerse themselves in the world of traditions at the lecture “Invisible Helpers: Women’s Crafts and Mythical Creatures,” as well as showcase their talents at a stained glass painting workshop. The A.D. Sakharov Museum, in collaboration with the "Quarks" museum, invites participants to the “School of Young Scientists.” The picture is complemented by thematic meetings and workshops in city libraries, as well as a rich selection of theatrical performances: in June, municipal theaters are open, and most performances are available through the "Pushkin Card."

“The ‘Pushkin Card’ has proven its effectiveness as a tool for forming a healthy cultural environment and preventing antisocial behavior among youth. The program makes culture accessible to the younger generation, promotes socialization and personal development, reduces the risks of negative manifestations, and fosters stable cultural values,” Tatiana Orlova concluded.
