Digital comfort on the "Golden Ring of Russia" - MegaFon has upgraded the network in Arzamas.

      On June 8, 2026, at 13:25, Society Engineers of MegaFon built new and modernized existing base stations in the third largest city of the Nizhny Novgorod region, where more than 100,000 people live and about 800,000 more come here annually as tourists. After the decision was made to include Arzamas in the expanded list of the tourist route "Golden Ring of Russia," even more travelers are expected. Thanks to the work carried out, residents and guests of the city have access to mobile internet at speeds of up to 70 Mbps.

      A more reliable signal reception has become available in the area of the city park, the beach on the Hot pond, the central city hospital, the gymnasium, kindergartens, in apartment buildings and private houses, as well as in the city center, where the main tourist attractions are concentrated.

      New equipment has also been launched in the eastern part of Arzamas on 9 May Street — this road is used by most tourists: from the regional center via the regional highway, as well as from Moscow, Vladimir, and Kazan — the M-12 highway runs literally a few kilometers away.

      The base stations operate in three frequency bands and support LTE and 3G communication standards. This approach allows for increased capacity and network coverage, flexible optimization of user distribution among stations, and stable data transmission over a significant area, including inside ancient buildings with thick walls and many rooms.

      In Arzamas and two large villages of the Arzamas district, Kostylyakha and Vodovatovo, the operator has modernized existing telecom facilities by connecting a high-frequency band. This has ensured maximum mobile internet speed and increased network capacity.

      “When developing the network plan, we focus on the needs of our subscribers, as well as on the prospects for the development of the territories. After the decision to include Arzamas in the 'Golden Ring of Russia' and the ongoing development of the pilgrimage and tourist cluster, it is clear that there will be even more tourists, so we must be ready to provide our guests with digital infrastructure. At the same time, reliable communication and comfortable mobile internet speeds are not only an opportunity to share impressions quickly and without delays but also convenience in conducting business, which has received an additional boost for development in Arzamas. We have upgraded the network ahead of the summer season so that both tourists and locals can make the most of their smartphones' digital capabilities,” said Alexey Mikhailov, director of MegaFon in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      Arzamas is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region. It attracts visitors with its rich history, spiritual life, and literary traditions — the city, founded by Ivan the Terrible, has more than 30 churches; Arkady Gaidar was born here, and A.S. Pushkin and A.M. Gorky have visited multiple times. The route through Arzamas leads to two more tourist "pearls" of the region — Diveevo and Bolshoye Boldino.
