The ceiling collapse in a Nizhny Novgorod house has caught the attention of Bastrykin.

      June 4, 2026 12:30 Incidents The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, will be informed about the investigation into the circumstances of the violation of the rights of residents of an apartment building in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This was reported by the press service of the agency.

      The case concerns the partial collapse of the ceiling in an apartment in building No. 18A on Piskunov Street in Nizhny Novgorod. The building was constructed in 1917. In the residential unit on the third floor, the ceiling collapsed right above the bed, burying the room under debris of bricks, wood, and plaster.

      In this regard, the investigative authorities have initiated a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - "Provision of services that do not meet the safety requirements for the life and health of consumers."

      It is also noted that construction of another facility has been underway next to the building for the past two years. Residents believe that this could have led to the gradual destruction of the building. At the same time, their appeals to the relevant authorities, it is claimed, have yielded no results.

      Alexander Bastrykin instructed the head of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region, Ayrat Akhmetshin, to report on the progress of the investigation and the measures being taken to restore the rights of citizens.
