The cracked three-story building in Balakhna has been recognized as emergency and is being prepared for demolition.

The relevant documents have been sent to the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region to include the building in the regional program for resettling citizens from the emergency housing fund. This was reported by the NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" in the administration of the Balakhna district. Recall that the crack on the outer wall of the three-story building formed on April 17. The fracture extended from the foundation to the roof, creating a threat of collapse of the right part of the building. An emergency situation was declared in the city, and residents were urgently evacuated. The cause of the damage could be foundation subsidence. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident under Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Negligence." The investigation is under the control of the prosecutor's office. The head of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin has requested a report on the progress of the case. Currently, round-the-clock duty of employees from a private security company has been organized at the house. Initially, some residents were placed in a temporary accommodation center, while others went to relatives. On May 8, people were relocated from the temporary accommodation center to residential premises. For those renting apartments, local authorities will compensate the costs of housing rental. In addition, all residents have been issued and paid one-time payments, the administration clarified. The demolition of the building will begin only after the owners and tenants are provided with improved housing or compensated for the lost housing, municipal authorities emphasized.
