From digital twins to robots: "Rostelecom" offered industry solutions to chemical enterprises

On June 2, 2026, at 17:14, the company "Rostelecom" acted as a partner of the regional forum "Chemistry of a Great Country," which took place on May 26-27 in Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod region. More than 500 representatives from chemical industry enterprises and industry experts from 20 regions of the country participated in it.

As part of the business program, "Rostelecom" presented practical experience in the application of automation, robotics, and artificial intelligence technologies in industrial enterprises.

Vladimir Ustyuzhaninov, Director of the Project Office for Industry Solutions of the Volga Regional Directorate of PJSC "Rostelecom," spoke about implemented projects, prospects for the introduction of robotic complexes and digital twins, as well as the most in-demand solutions in the production sector.

The expert noted that "Rostelecom," as a comprehensive integrator of industry solutions, implements full-cycle projects—from surveying technological processes to the implementation of systems and their subsequent support.

According to the speaker, robotics generates the greatest interest among industrial companies. Moreover, robotic complexes are atypical solutions that are always developed for the specific tasks of the customer. For each project, "Rostelecom" specialists analyze production processes, select equipment, calculate economic efficiency, and model the operation of the future complex even before implementation begins.

As for artificial intelligence, machine learning technologies are already widely used in production today. They help solve tasks related to quality control of products, analysis of production data, and forecasting equipment performance.

Vladimir Ustyuzhaninov, Director of the Project Office for Industry Solutions of the Volga Regional Directorate of PJSC "Rostelecom," stated: "Artificial intelligence is effective when it relies on the experience of engineers and real production data. For example, when creating a digital twin of a chemical reactor, we encountered the fact that the classical mathematical model does not allow for all factors affecting the process. In such cases, machine learning technologies help analyze the operation of the installation and identify patterns. However, even the most modern algorithms cannot replace the understanding of chemical processes. Therefore, successful projects are always built on the interaction of IT specialists and industry experts."

As examples, the speaker presented projects implemented by the company for the introduction of robotic welding complexes, automation systems for engineering infrastructure, and solutions based on computer vision.

Separately, the speaker touched on the prospects of using digital twins in the chemical industry. The application of such models in production allows for forecasting the results of technological processes, analyzing various parameters, and making more informed management decisions based on this data.
