Veterinary drug found in beef and liver in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

June 2, 2026 16:45 Society Specialists from the Nizhny Novgorod Testing Laboratory of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "VNIIZh" discovered residues of a veterinary drug in meat products during the period from May 18 to May 28, 2026. As reported by the press service of the Rosselkhoznadzor, the studies were conducted as part of state food monitoring. According to the results of the inspection, residues of ronidazole were found in two samples - beef and beef liver. Ronidazole belongs to the group of nitroimidazoles - antimicrobial and antiprotozoal agents. This substance is used in veterinary medicine to treat parasitic diseases in animals. However, its presence in food products is not allowed, as it may pose a risk to consumer health. With prolonged intake into the body, residual amounts of nitroimidazoles can negatively affect health, which is why their content in food products is under strict control. It was previously reported that signs of milk product falsification were found in the Nizhny Novgorod region. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
