The tunnel boring shield on Gorky Street is being prepared for launch.

      May 21, 2026 14:10 Society One of the most complex stages of the tunnel boring complex installation is nearing completion on Gorky Street. The heaviest elements of its head section have already been lowered into the starting pit. This was reported by the MAX channel "MetroNN". This concerns the drive, the thrust system with jacks, as well as the front and middle shields. The weight of each part ranges from 60 to 90 tons. A special heavy-duty crane was used for their descent.

      In the near future, a six-meter rotor will also be sent to the pit. After all elements are on site, specialists will begin assembling and installing the equipment for tunneling. The commissioning work is planned to be completed as early as next week.
