The expansion of the color palette for taxis was proposed in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      On May 21, 2026, at 15:23, Society In the Nizhny Novgorod region, the list of permitted colors for passenger taxis may be expanded. Instead of just one orange color, it is proposed to establish two design options. The changes were discussed on May 21 at a meeting of the Legislative Assembly's committee on transport and road management, reports IA "NTA-Volga".

      Recall that the regional Ministry of Transport previously initiated changes to the regional law on passenger transportation organization. The project proposed to establish orange as the sole color for passenger taxis, similar to buses. An exception is provided for business-class vehicles: they will be allowed to use black.

      At the end of April, the Legislative Assembly approved the bill in the first reading. However, proposals were received from business representatives and the deputy corps regarding the expansion of the permissible palette for the second reading.

      As reported by committee chairman Vladimir Soldatenkov, a working meeting was held the day before with the participation of parliamentarians, representatives of the regional government, major aggregators, and car fleets. Participants studied the practices of other regions of the Russian Federation and proposed an amendment allowing the use of two colors.

      In addition to orange, the list is planned to include white, as one of the most common colors among taxi vehicles. Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region Alexey Antonov emphasized that the interests of passengers and carriers were taken into account during the discussions.

      At the same time, existing carriers will not be required to urgently change the appearance of their vehicles. Cars will be able to operate in their previous color until the expiration of the license, which is issued for five years.

      It was previously reported that the administration of Nizhny Novgorod signed an agreement with the company "Nizhgorodets Vostok" for the development of an electric taxi network. The document provides for a phased introduction of up to 3,000 electric vehicles by 2030.
