Nizhny Novgorod Region will strengthen partnership with Kazakhstan in the trade and economic sphere.

      May 21, 2026 12:49 Economy On May 20, as part of the XI conference "Digital Industry of Industrial Russia" (CIPR), a working meeting took place between the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, secretary of the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the United Russia party Gleb Nikitin, and the Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Kazan, Erlan Iskakov. The parties discussed cooperation in trade, economic, industrial, and educational spheres, as well as focused on developing bilateral cooperation in the IT sector. The regional head emphasized the importance of Kazakhstan as one of the key partners of the Nizhny Novgorod region and noted the need to expand cooperation. The parties confirmed mutual interest in joint projects in logistics, digital technologies, and trade.

      "It is gratifying that almost every year, guests from Kazakhstan—representatives of IT companies and other sectors of ICT—participate in the CIPR conference in Nizhny Novgorod. I am convinced that we should actively expand trade and economic cooperation with our colleagues; we have all the necessary prerequisites for this. I especially want to emphasize the significance of Kazakhstan as a major logistics center, opening new opportunities for cooperation. All of this fully corresponds to our common course towards deepening economic interaction," noted Gleb Nikitin.

      During the meeting, the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region presented the region's experience in information technology, discussing the world-class IT campus "NEIMARK" and the regional Catalog of IT Solutions. "Currently, the Nizhny Novgorod region is actively working to promote domestic developments in foreign markets, including in the field of information technology. One of the tools for popularizing regional IT products is the catalog of IT solutions—a generalized directory of digital products and solutions developed by companies in the region for the real sector of the economy. It systematizes ready-made products for automating business processes, managing production, implementing AI, and other technologies. We are ready to replicate our experience in the Republic of Kazakhstan," added Gleb Nikitin. The governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region expressed a desire to visit Kazakhstan on a working visit. For their part, representatives of the Kazakh delegation expressed readiness to create an institute of honorary consuls in Nizhny Novgorod, which could become an effective tool for promptly addressing trade and logistics tasks.

      "From the very moment we arrived in the Nizhny Novgorod region, we felt sincere hospitality—we were warmly welcomed. I want to express my deep gratitude for organizing our visit. Even before coming here, we had a complete understanding of the region's potential, and we have excellent opportunities for cooperation between us. It is necessary to expand our interaction," said Erlan Iskakov.

      The meeting also discussed strengthening interregional cooperation. "Strong interregional ties with Kazakhstan, especially with the Karaganda region, have laid the foundation for successful joint projects in industry, science, and culture. We also see active development of contacts with the Kostanay region. All of this indicates that the previously signed contractual documents are working effectively, bringing tangible results," emphasized the Minister of International and Interregional Relations of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Olga Guseva.
