A factory for industrial robotics has opened in Nizhny Novgorod.

      In Nizhny Novgorod, with state support, the industrial robotics plant LLC "VR Robotics" has been established. The new facility is a production division of LLC PC "Velam-Rus" — a manufacturer of robotic complexes for enterprises. The opening ceremony was attended by the Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Yegor Polyakov, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Entrepreneurship of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Maxim Cherkasov, the Executive Director of the National Association of Robotics Market Participants, Olga Mudrova, and the Acting Rector of NGTU named after R.E. Alekseev, Sergey Dmitriev. Investments in the creation of the facility exceeded 100 million rubles. Ten high-performance jobs have been created. The design capacity of the enterprise is up to 200 robotic welding cells per year. The products are intended for use in the automotive, aerospace, machine engineering, and other industries. The company will also produce solutions based on industrial and collaborative robots. Yegor Polyakov noted that the development of robotics is part of the national project "Means of Production and Automation," aimed at increasing the level of technological independence and positioning Russia among the world's leaders in robot density. According to him, not only a production site has been created in the region, but also a showroom for industrial robotics. Maxim Cherkasov reported that the company attracted preferential financing for the construction of the facility under the program of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia — 50 million rubles at 7.25% per annum. In 2021, the enterprise also received a grant of 25 million rubles from the Innovation Assistance Fund for the development of robotic welding cells. The company participates in international business missions and specialized exhibitions with the support of regional infrastructure. The founder of "VR Robotics," Alexey Smirnov, noted that the company is a resident of the Skolkovo Foundation, has patents for its own developments, and holds the status of a small technology company. The new facility will increase production volumes and become a center for training specialists in working with industrial, collaborative, and logistics robots. As part of the event, the "Nizhny Novgorod RoboProm" award was presented for the industrial integration of robots, innovative projects, technological startups, and automation practices in the small and medium-sized enterprise sector. The national project "Means of Production and Automation" has been implemented since 2025 by order of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. By 2030, it is planned to ensure technological independence in the production of high-tech machines by 95% and to enter the top 25 countries in the world by robot density. The implementation of the national project in the Nizhny Novgorod region is overseen by the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Entrepreneurship of the region.
