Volunteer of the Special Military Operation: "We all must contribute to our common Victory"

May 12, 2026 11:37 Society A new group of volunteers who signed contracts with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has headed from the Nizhny Novgorod region for training before participating in a special military operation. The recruits will serve in the unmanned systems troops. The specialization in the UAV direction requires military personnel to have high qualifications in handling modern technology. During the two-month training under the guidance of experienced instructors, the volunteers are expected to acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills in managing various types of drones. Among the future UAV operators who signed contracts at the military service selection point in Nizhny Novgorod is a St. Petersburg resident with the call sign "Wombat." "I have heard about the Nizhny Novgorod military service selection point; many speak of it as one of the best. Therefore, I decided to come and sign a contract here," shared "Wombat." Before making the decision about military service, he combined work in two fields—programming and cargo transportation. But the sense of duty, he admitted, turned out to be stronger than the habit of a calm and stable life. "I believe it is the duty of every citizen of our country to go to the SVO zone to protect their homeland. We all must contribute to our common Victory," emphasized the volunteer from St. Petersburg. A volunteer from Volgograd with the call sign "Mazay," who has a medical education, is also ready to master a new profession. "I have two brothers serving in the special military operation: one in the assault squad, the other in the unmanned systems troops. My brother tells me a lot about working with UAVs, including the latest Russian developments. I am sure I will gain useful experience that will help me in the future. I want to contribute to Russia's complete victory over Nazism," summarized the volunteer. A distinctive feature of the contract with the unmanned systems troops is its duration—one year. For military personnel in the UAV troops who signed contracts with the Ministry of Defense of Russia, a one-time payment of 2.1 million rubles is provided starting from April 1, 2026. The monthly salary is from 210,000 rubles. Additional payments for combat achievements and for the destruction of enemy weapons and equipment are also established—up to 500,000 rubles. Those who sign military contracts are issued certificates for the provision of land plots in the Nizhny Novgorod region. It is worth noting that there is also a mechanism for signing military social contracts in the Nizhny Novgorod region, which additionally guarantees the contractor's family 10,000 rubles per month for each child, benefits for utility payments, preschool services, and other types of support. Moreover, individual support for the military personnel's family is provided. The dispatch of residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region to their place of service is ensured by the coordination center for supporting military personnel, mobilized individuals, and their families, operating on the basis of the House of National Unity. At the same time, the region continues to actively support military personnel by sending humanitarian cargo to the area of the special military operation.
