A large dump was discovered in the agricultural area of the Knyagininsky district.

      On May 6, 2026, at 09:23, Society reported that a landfill of solid municipal waste was discovered on agricultural land in the Knyagininsky district, as reported by the Rosselkhoznadzor management for the Nizhny Novgorod region and the republics of Mari El and Mordovia.

      The inspection revealed that on a land area of more than 6.8 hectares, located near the village of Shishkoverd, waste was placed on a site of about 2,000 square meters. Among them were old furniture, car tires, broken slate, plastic and glass bottles and bags, plastic mesh, construction debris, rotten hay, and other waste.

      On the remaining part of the site, there were rarely growing trees, willow shrubs, and weeds such as lamb's quarters, burdock, couch grass, and others.

      The agency established that the owner did not fulfill the mandatory measures to protect agricultural land from waste storage and overgrowth. On May 5, 2026, the owner was issued a directive to eliminate violations of land legislation. It must be executed by November 1, 2026.
