      April 23, 2026 15:55 Politics The Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Evgeny Lyulin, met with the future deputy of the regional parliament, Hero of Labor of Russia Yulia Garevskaya.

      At the meeting of the regional parliament on April 30, Yulia Garevskaya will take the oath and officially join the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region of the VII convocation. She received the mandate from the United Russia member Andrey Melin, who had to resign early after being appointed head of the Pochinkovsky district.

      Garevskaya is the chief physician of the city clinical hospital No. 29 and a representative of the medical community with high professional authority. In 2020, the President of the Russian Federation awarded her the title of Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation. As Evgeny Lyulin noted, it is "a great honor for the deputy corps to welcome such a professional into its ranks."

      The speaker also emphasized that the future deputy was born and raised in Gorky, but in the 1990s decided to move to the region to develop rural healthcare. For seven years, she worked as an obstetrician-gynecologist at the Varnavinskaya Central District Hospital, where she performed complex surgeries for that time.

      During the coronavirus pandemic, the hospital under her leadership was one of the first in Nizhny Novgorod to be repurposed for treating patients with the new infection. Thanks to the organized work, many lives were saved, according to colleagues. For this contribution, the doctor was awarded a state award.

      During the meeting, the parties discussed further work in the parliament. It is planned that Yulia Garevskaya will join the committees on social issues and ecology. Together, they discussed specific ideas that would help create additional incentives for young doctors working in state clinics.

      Evgeny Lyulin expressed confidence that before the end of the VII convocation, the new deputy would be able to demonstrate her abilities in legislative activity, and her management experience and professional skills would be in demand in the work of the parliament.
