Fuel prices in Russia are rising within the limits of inflation.
April 23, 2026 15:28 Economy The head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, Maxim Shaskolsky, reported that the situation with prices at gas stations in Russia remains stable. In a conversation with RIA Novosti, he noted that the increase in fuel prices at retail does not exceed the inflation rate, and fluctuations in wholesale market quotes have been reduced. Currently, the price dynamics in the retail segment align with inflation indicators, while the wholesale market demonstrates smoother volatility. To keep the situation under control, the FAS has intensified monitoring of the retail and small wholesale segments of the motor fuel market. Relevant instructions have been sent to the territorial offices of the service, taking into account the fieldwork season. Ten cases are currently being considered in the regions for signs of violations of antimonopoly legislation. The head of the agency also reminded about the existing restrictions on fuel exports. A ban on the export of gasoline and diesel fuel for non-producers has been introduced in the country, while producers face restrictions on gasoline exports. Additionally, at the initiative of the service, the rules of the St. Petersburg Exchange were adjusted starting March 25, 2026. In particular, the permissible limits for price fluctuations on automotive gasoline and diesel fuel have been changed. It is worth noting that in March, average consumer prices for automotive fuel in the Nizhny Novgorod region continued to rise. Compared to February, gasoline prices increased by 1.02%, and since December 2025, the increase has amounted to 3.89%. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has a Telegram channel.
