A child and four adults were rescued from a burning house in Nizhny Novgorod.

      On April 23, 2026, at 14:55, Incidents: Four people and a child were rescued from a burning house in Nizhny Novgorod. As reported by the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations, the fire occurred in an apartment building on Svetlogorskaya Street in the Soviet District.

      When the first units arrived at the scene, open flames were already raging in the vestibule on the first floor and on the stair landing between the first and second floors.

      There was heavy smoke on the second floor and in the attic space. Thick smoke was coming from the windows of the house, and people were calling for help. There was a real threat of further spread of the fire, so the main efforts of the rescuers were focused on evacuating and saving the residents.

      Using breathing masks, firefighters brought five people, including one child, out of the danger zone. Another 20 residents were evacuated.

      The area of the fire was 50 square meters. Fortunately, there were no injuries. A total of 38 people and 9 units of equipment participated in the firefighting efforts.

      Currently, investigators from the emergency services are determining the causes of the incident.

      It was previously reported that a criminal case was opened after the deaths of four people in a fire in the Dalnekonstantinovsky district.
