The development plan for Sarov will be developed by the end of 2026.
On April 15, 2026, at 18:40, Society Specialists from the Institute for the Development of the Nizhny Novgorod Region conducted a field survey of the urban environment in Sarov. This work is part of the preparation of a development plan for the municipality, which is expected to be developed by the end of 2026.
Over four days, experts studied the state of the city and held meetings with relevant departments of the administration. The discussion covered social and engineering infrastructure, the economy, ecology, transportation, and civil defense issues. This approach allowed for a comprehensive understanding of the state of the urban economy.
Particular attention was paid to interaction with the city-forming enterprise. Economic aspects and development prospects of the sector that defines Sarov's status as a science city were discussed with its management.
The delegation also visited the Sarov Physical Technical Institute and the Sarov Polytechnic College named after Muzrukov. Participants discussed attracting applicants, developing extracurricular activities, and issues related to the further employment of graduates.
A key event of the trip was a visit to the "Sarov" technopark, where a working meeting took place with representatives of relevant organizations, regional and municipal authorities. The delegations were introduced to the National Center for Physics and Mathematics, which is considered a potential driver of the city's socio-economic development.
The head of the regional Ministry of Urban Development, Darya Shunaeva, noted that developing a plan for Sarov is a complex task given its status as a closed city and its strong scientific base. "Our task is to build on what has already been created and propose solutions that will make life in Sarov even more comfortable. So that young professionals stay here, see prospects for themselves, their families, leisure, and self-realization," she emphasized.
As a result of the survey, key directions for the future plan were identified. These include the development of housing construction, placement of social infrastructure facilities, creation of recreation areas, and increasing the city's attractiveness. The implementation of these measures aims to retain qualified personnel and create a comfortable environment for living and working.
It was previously reported that the Ministry of Urban Development approved the planning project for the area for the construction of the Eastern Bypass of Nizhny Novgorod.
