"Charged the guys emotionally": Isakov on Torpedo's first victory in the series

      On April 16, 2026, at 09:00, SportNizhny Novgorod's "Torpedo" achieved its first victory in the quarterfinal series of the Gagarin Cup. The auto workers succeeded in overtime, defeating "Metallurg" with a score of 3:2.

      The head coach of the team, Alexey Isakov, commented on the outcome of the match and explained how the course of the game was changed in the third period.

      "Everyone understood perfectly that one moment could decide the outcome of both the season and the game. Therefore, there was a very high level of responsibility. The guys did well to handle it," Isakov stated.

      The coach also spoke about changes in the lineup. According to him, the coaching staff is betting on those hockey players who are ready to show themselves at that specific moment.

      "We want the players who are ready in the moment to go out for the game. And we are basing our decisions on that," he emphasized, adding that the success was the result of the collective's overall work.

      The coach paid special attention to the third period, in which the Nizhny Novgorod team managed to turn the situation around.

      "Before the third period, we charged the guys more emotionally because certain problems were rooted in emotions," the coach summarized.
