Ticks have bitten 28 people in the Nizhny Novgorod region since the beginning of the season.

      On April 9, 2026, 13:37 Society 28 appeals to medical organizations regarding tick bites were registered in the Nizhny Novgorod region as of April 8. Among the victims are 14 children, reported the regional office of Rospotrebnadzor. Cases have been recorded in 14 municipalities, including Balakhna, Bogorodsk, Gorodets, Kstovo, Pavlovo, and other districts, as well as in Dzerzhinsk, Pervomaisk, Shakhunya, and three districts of Nizhny Novgorod — Avtozavodsky, Soviet, and Prioksky. Most often, ticks attached themselves in household areas — in 43% of cases. Another 13% of bites occurred in garden plots, 9% — in villages and hamlets. The remaining cases were isolated and recorded in other places. Five children received emergency prevention with anti-tick immunoglobulin after bites. Specialists examined 23 ticks removed from people. In one case (Bogorodsky district), a tick infected with Borrelia was found. According to the agency, as of today, 2,926 people have been vaccinated against tick-borne viral encephalitis, of which 264 are children. Earlier, the NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" editorial office found out that parks in the regional center will be treated for ticks later than usual. The snow must first melt.
