      April 9, 2026 11:51 Economy The bank outlined key measures of state support necessary for the sustainable development of artificial intelligence (AI) and achieving technological sovereignty. Among the priority tasks are the development of data center (DC) infrastructure and closing the need for high-performance chips.

      "These areas are strategically important for achieving technological sovereignty. Solving such tasks is impossible solely by business efforts and requires active participation from the state," said Sergey Bezbogov, Deputy Head of the Technology Block at VTB, at the Data Fusion conference.

      Particular attention should be paid to the need for large-scale implementation of artificial intelligence technologies. For this, in addition to establishing key performance indicators (KPIs), a comprehensive incentive system is required — including financial preferences, subsidies, and tax benefits.

      "AI projects are often characterized by significant investments and long payback periods. In the financial sector, this leads to their lower economic attractiveness compared to other projects in terms of quantitative criteria," explained Sergey Bezbogov.

      Additional support from the state becomes a critically important factor for accelerating the digital transformation of the financial industry, he concluded.
