April 9, 2026 12:21 Culture and Leisure The novella "Moscow 1944" (16+) — a continuation of the popular war detective "SMERSH 4" (16+) — is released on April 9 in the online cinema Wink (a joint venture of Rostelecom and NMG). In the new part of the story about Soviet counterintelligence, viewers will see beloved characters played by Igor Petrenko, Vladislav Kotlyarsky, Leonid Gromov, Lyanka Gryu, Pavel Kharlanchuk, Andrey Filippak, Yuri Anpilogov, and others. The director is Mikhail Kabanov ("SMERSH 3" (16+), "Alive" (18+), "Tverskaya" (16+)). The project will expand the Wink Originals lineup. The television premiere is scheduled on REN TV.

At the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, all important facilities in Moscow were mined by Stalin's order. Fascist agents, sent to the Soviet rear, are preparing to take advantage of this and blow up the center of the capital. SMERSH agents Lavrov and Semyonov have a new goal — to find and neutralize the saboteurs.

      Mikhail Kabanov, director:

"In the novella 'Moscow 1944', our heroes will have to fight a group of saboteurs who are set to blow up a metro line with explosives planted back in 1941. This incident was supposed to create chaos in a city that was just beginning to breathe peaceful life and disrupt the 'Parade of the Defeated' on July 17, 1944, provoking a riot among the prisoners of war."

Vladislav Kotlyarsky, who plays the role of Captain Pavel Semyonov of the Soviet counterintelligence, admitted that a fact from his family history made it into the series.

      Vladislav Kotlyarsky, actor:

"My mother was seven years old in 1944, and she had two younger sisters. My grandfather was a military pilot and went missing during the war. There is a scene in the series where two little sisters come to a bakery in Moscow for bread. The saleswoman asks the older one: 'How is mom? Is there any news about dad?' In our series, both girls were played by my daughters: the older one, Elina, plays my mother Elena, and the middle one, Nicole, plays her younger sister. I also have three daughters. We wanted to involve the youngest — Ariana — but at the time of filming, she couldn't even walk yet, so she is not in the frame. This is a very truthful and touching moment in our project."

Filming for the new chapter of the series took place in Moscow and the surrounding area, in the Moskino film park, as well as in Kostroma.
