      On April 9, 2026, at 12:02, Society Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Evgeny Lyulin, congratulated the team of the Russian Federal Nuclear Center – All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Experimental Physics (RFNC-VNIIEF) on its 80th anniversary in his MAX channel, emphasizing the unique role of Sarov and its historical contribution to the preservation of closed cities.

      “Happy 80th anniversary to the Sarov Nuclear Center and the Institute of Experimental Physics! I congratulate the scientists and all specialists of RFNC-VNIIEF on this significant date!” – wrote Evgeny Lyulin.

      “It is simply a miracle that the land of Seraphim of Sarov has become a place where the best minds of the country create the future of Russia. Here, atomic and thermonuclear bombs were developed. The physics of high energy densities. The ideas of the first nuclear power plants and the atomic icebreaker fleet. And today it is the brain of 'Rosatom', astonishing the world with its discoveries, supercomputers, and laser systems,” – noted the speaker of the regional parliament.

      “Everyone knows about the contribution of Sarov scientists to science and technology. But did you know that in the 90s, Sarov saved all the science cities of the country from destruction?! The Minatom system was simply taken and stopped being supplied. Scientists had to become lawmakers. Together with the city council of Arzamas-16, they created the draft law 'On Closed Administrative-Territorial Formations', and managed to meet with Yeltsin. In those troubled times, they convinced the country's leadership to preserve closed cities and their unique enterprises,” – emphasized the chairman of the Legislative Assembly.

      “Not discoveries and technologies are the most valuable capital of the nuclear industry. People! Unique specialists. Top-class professionals. Patriotic patriots devoted to the country. Today we say a huge thank you to them and wish them new successes for the glory of the Motherland!” – summarized Evgeny Lyulin.
