IT specialists earn the most in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      March 23, 2026 09:33 The IT sector became the highest-paid industry in the Nizhny Novgorod region in 2025, according to a ranking compiled by analysts from RIA Novosti. According to the study, the average salary in the IT field last year was 159,000 rubles. With this figure, the Nizhny Novgorod region ranks 23rd in the ranking of Russian regions by salaries in industries. At the same time, the highest earners in Russia are oil workers in Sakhalin (328,000) and financiers in Moscow (310,000). The last places in the ranking are occupied by Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Chechnya, and Dagestan. With the exception of Chechnya, in all these regions, the highest salaries are earned by public sector employees. It is noted that among the 85 analyzed regions, in 18, the highest salaries are observed in industries related to the extraction of mineral resources. Moreover, as a rule, higher salaries are found in oil and gas extraction. Those engaged in the extraction of metallic ores, coal, and some other mineral resources can also boast good salaries. It was previously reported that Governor Gleb Nikitin signed a decree on the KRT to create an IT quarter in Nizhny Novgorod.
