On the first working day after the long New Year holidays, Rospotrebnadzor reminded residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region of the rules that will help preserve health and reduce the risk of spreading viral infections.

The agency recommends starting the day by ventilating rooms. Windows should be opened at least 5–6 times during the working day to ensure a supply of fresh air.

It is also important to maintain social distance. Even if you have missed your colleagues, it is better to avoid hugs and handshakes. If non-handshake greetings are not customary in your workplace, specialists advise washing your hands after a series of contacts.

Hand hygiene remains a key factor in prevention. Hands should be washed upon arrival at work, after using the toilet and before eating.

When coughing or sneezing, you should cover your mouth and nose with a disposable tissue or the crook of your elbow to avoid spreading microbes.

If your job requires interacting with a large number of people, it is recommended to wear a medical mask. It should be changed every 2–3 hours.

In addition, Rospotrebnadzor advises performing wet cleaning at the workplace daily. Wiping surfaces with antiseptic wipes will not only protect against germs but also help you smoothly get back into the work rhythm.

Earlier reports said that the region maintains a seasonal level of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections.
