More than 300 drunk drivers were detained in the Nizhny Novgorod region in one week.

      Since the beginning of 2025, 11,280 drivers who were driving with signs of intoxication have been held accountable. These figures are provided by the regional State Traffic Inspectorate.

      Particular concern is caused by the fact that 1,261 offenders drove again while intoxicated despite being deprived of their driver's licenses. They now face criminal liability.

      Compared with the previous week, the number of such offenders increased by 307 people. At that time 10,973 cases were recorded.

      The regional State Traffic Inspectorate said it will continue working to detect and suppress such violations. The agency is conducting preventive activities aimed at reducing the number of road traffic accidents involving intoxicated drivers.

      Earlier it was reported that in the settlement of Shimorskoe near Vyksa a passenger car overturned and fell into a pond — according to preliminary data, the driver may have been drunk.
