Nizhny Novgorod authorities have taken the situation at the Pochinkovsky stud farm under control, from which unidentified persons attempted to remove horses of the Soviet breed on December 24.
As Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Andrey Sanosyan told NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" in a comment to a request, the Pochinkovsky stud farm, where the unique Soviet Heavy Draft horse breed was developed, is not an ordinary agricultural enterprise of the region but represents an important historical heritage.
According to him, the regional government is doing and will continue to do everything possible within the law to prevent the loss of this asset. He recalled that similar support had already been provided in 2021, when an investor was attracted who undertook the restoration of the enterprise's infrastructure and operations.
"It will be the same now, when the horses are under threat," Sanosyan emphasized.
He said that an agreement has currently been reached to purchase the animals. The horses, he said, "will definitely remain at the Pochinkovsky stud farm." The details of the deal are still being clarified; however, the authorities insist that the new owner must understand the historical and cultural value of the breed and also share the attitude toward it demonstrated by the farm's staff and local residents.
Recall that the Pochinkovsky stud farm is one of the oldest in Russia. It was founded in the 17th century, and in 1952 it was here that the Soviet Heavy Draft breed was developed. The farm faced serious difficulties after perestroika. The revival of the farm began in 2021 after a visit by the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gleb Nikitin.
It was previously reported that the Nizhny Novgorod Region was allocated 14.8 million rubles for pedigree animal husbandry. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has a Telegram channel.
