Nizhny Novgorod residents rejected the idea of renaming routes No. 31 and E-31.

      Nizhny Novgorod residents opposed changing the numbers of bus and electric bus route No. 31. This was reported by the regional Ministry of Transport.

      The ministry summed up the results of a passenger survey that ended on December 25. Residents were asked to choose whether to keep the current route numbers or assign new ones to avoid misunderstandings. However, the majority of survey participants voted to leave everything as it is.

      The initiative to change the numbering came from residents of the Prioksky District of Nizhny Novgorod. They complained to the ministry about inconveniences: bus No. 31 and electric bus No. E-31 have identical numbers and depart from the same stop — "Shcherbinki Bus Station" — and they overlap for eleven stops. Because of this, passengers often confuse the vehicles and board the wrong route, which leads to delays and dissatisfaction.

      Despite this, following the vote it was decided to keep the existing route numbering.

      Earlier it was reported that on New Year's Eve Nizhny Novgorod's public transport would operate longer than usual.
