Nizhny Novgorod residents are invited to undergo medical screenings and preventive check-ups during the New Year holidays.

      The chief physician of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Center for Public Health and Medical Prevention, the chief freelance specialist in medical prevention of the Ministry of Health of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Natalya Savitskaya, spoke about the advantages of undergoing preventive measures during the winter “holiday break.”

      “First, it is an opportunity to thoroughly assess your health without the rush and bustle typical of working weekdays. On weekdays we often lack the time to visit doctors and undergo necessary examinations. During the New Year holidays you can calmly and systematically go through all stages of medical check-ups, get consultations from specialists, and timely identify possible health risks,” Natalya Savitskaya said.

      The specialist named a reduced burden on medical staff and healthcare facility equipment as the second advantage.

      “In the first days of the new year medical facilities are generally less busy, which shortens waiting times and makes the check-up process more comfortable and effective. This is especially important for those who do not want to spend time waiting in queues,” the chief physician continued.

      The festive days also give patients the opportunity to choose the most convenient time to visit the polyclinic. In addition, at this time citizens are guaranteed more attentive care from specialists: since the workload on doctors decreases, physicians can devote more time to analyzing diagnostic results and providing consultations.

      “Undergoing preventive measures in the first days of January is a symbolic step. You will be able to start the new year with a clear understanding of the condition of your body. For citizens aged 18 to 39, annual preventive examinations and a comprehensive medical check-up once every three years are provided; for persons over 40 years old, an annual comprehensive medical check-up is provided.
