Billionaire Oleg Deripaska has been appointed head of the Russian Bandy Federation.

      Well-known Russian entrepreneur Oleg Deripaska (a native of Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast) has become the new president of the Russian Bandy Federation. This was reported on the organization's official social networks.

      The decision was made on December 26 during an extraordinary electoral conference of the Russian Bandy Federation. Following the vote, all 19 delegates unanimously supported Deripaska's candidacy.

      Earlier he was nominated by the regional bandy federations of Samara Oblast and the Republic of Khakassia. In addition, the initiative was supported by the Minister of Sport and chairman of the Russian Olympic Committee, Mikhail Degtyarev.

      In spring 2025 Deripaska took part in the opening of the Combat Sports Center in Nizhny Novgorod.

      Recall that Nizhny Novgorod's HC Start was heavily defeated by SKA-Neftyanik in the final round of the Russian bandy championship.
