The warehouse manager of Nizhny Novgorod City Clinical Hospital No. 40 was fined for fraud.

      December 26, 2025 16:25 Incidents An employee of Hospital No. 40 in Nizhny Novgorod has been found guilty of fraud related to contracts for the supply of medical materials, the press service of the Avtozavodsky District Court reported.

      The court found that from June 2021 to October 2024, while performing the duties of head of the warehouse, she took part in selecting suppliers. Using her position, the woman facilitated the awarding of contracts to certain companies by understating the prices of their commercial bids compared to competitors.

      For this she regularly received illicit payments — about 10% of the value of each deal. The total proceeds from the illegal actions amounted to 171,200 rubles.

      Initially the woman was accused of taking a bribe. However, during the proceedings it emerged that the defendant did not have procurement authority and did not perform duties related to contract conclusion. Therefore the court reclassified the charge to fraud (Part 1 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

      The woman was sentenced to a fine of 100,000 rubles. Taking into account her time under house arrest and the prohibition on certain actions, the fine was reduced to 50,000 rubles. The verdict has not yet entered into force.

      Earlier it was reported that the average bribe in the Nizhny Novgorod region amounted to 228,000 rubles.
