Veterans of the special military operation should become a new pillar and driving force in the system of local self-government. As reported by TASS, this was stated by the chairman of the Nizhny Novgorod City Duma, Evgeny Chintsov, who is participating in the first intake of the "Time of Heroes" program.

According to him, participants of the SVO have demonstrated qualities that are extremely important for effective governance — patriotism, responsibility, dedication to the cause, and a willingness to make sacrifices. Such people, Chintsov is convinced, are capable of breathing new life into municipal government.

"In my region I serve as a mentor for the 'Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region' project, which is aimed at supporting and developing service to the Motherland in peacetime at the local level," he noted.

Chintsov emphasized that the municipal level is the most suitable platform for unlocking veterans' leadership potential. As part of the "Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region" program, participants undergo professional retraining and receive assistance with employment.

In addition, a sports club for combat veterans, including participants of the SVO, has been created in the region. It offers the opportunity to engage in sports free of charge, and there are plans to expand this initiative to the federal level in the future.

Special attention, Chintsov said, is paid to the "Service" award in the category "From the SVO Frontline to the Municipality." It is intended to support and motivate veterans to take part in local governance.

"Our task is to create every condition so that veterans can realize their potential in peacetime, working for the benefit of society," Chintsov concluded.

Earlier it was reported that the second training module of the educational program "Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region" was launched in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
