Testing of small industrial cargo deliveries by drones begins in Nizhny Novgorod.
Aero-couriers are special drones developed in the region that will be able to transport cargo by air directly within the city, the regional government said.
Flights will take place along four routes in the Nizhegorodsky, Sovetsky, Prioksky, Leninsky and Kanavinsky districts. All routes are pre-planned, and the flights adhere strictly to safety rules.
The project is being implemented within an experimental legal regime that allows testing modern technologies in conditions as close to real life as possible.
Testing will last about two months. During this time, specialists will check how the drones handle different routes and assess their technical capabilities.
Aero-couriers are equipped with navigation equipment and signal lights, so they can be seen in the sky from the ground.
Launch sites for the drones are located at the following addresses:
34 Moskovskoye Shosse
14a Komsomolskoye Shosse
28b Larina Street
28 Nadezhda Suslova Street
The development of unmanned aviation in the region is being carried out under the national project "Unmanned Aerial Systems," initiated by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Similar tests were conducted in Nizhny Novgorod in July and September.
Earlier it was reported that the Nizhny Novgorod UAV experiment would start in the Kaluga and Vladimir regions.
