Almost 350 houses were built in the Nizhny Novgorod Region using escrow accounts.

      In the Nizhny Novgorod Region, housing construction projects using escrow accounts are being actively implemented. According to NTA-Privolzhye, the construction of more than 350 apartment buildings with a total area of over 2.5 million square meters has already been completed.

      In addition, about 150 more projects are under construction, amounting to roughly 1.5 million square meters of housing. All of them are also being carried out using the escrow system that was implemented under federal legislation.

      The Ministry of Construction of the Nizhny Novgorod Region stressed that the shift to project financing using escrow accounts affects construction costs. This is because developers typically attract borrowed funds from banks.

      However, thanks to the professionalism of market participants, appropriate financial planning, sound risk assessment, and optimal selection of financing sources, it has been possible to minimize the costs of such loans. This helps keep housing prices at an acceptable level.

      The regional Ministry of Construction also reminded that the use of escrow accounts is mandatory when attracting citizens’ funds for shared-equity construction of apartment buildings. This rule is intended to protect the interests of equity holders and ensure the transparency of financial transactions.

      Earlier it was reported that more than 270 private houses in the Nizhny Novgorod Region are being built using the escrow mechanism.
