The Nizhny Novgorod Region won 24 awards at the G.V. Shatalov Russian Event Awards, the international award in the field of event tourism.

The winners’ award ceremony was held at the Nizhny Novgorod Fair

Nizhny Novgorod Region won 24 awards at the XIV International Russian Event Awards in the field of event tourism named after Gennady Vasilyevich Shatalov.

In 2025, 473 projects were submitted for the award from 63 regions of Russia, as well as from the Republic of Belarus and South Ossetia. The final took place from November 26 to 28, and the winners were presented with their awards at the Nizhny Novgorod Fair.

“Nizhny Novgorod Region is truly a region of event tourism. Every year we hold about 150 events, including music, theater, film, contemporary art and gastronomic festivals. Many of them have become symbols of the Volga capital with which our region is associated. The 24 awards won at the International Russian Event Awards are the best result in the country. Experts noted events on various themes: from the traditional ‘Golden Khokhloma’ festival to the International Biennale of Ecological Art, which was attended by more than 170,000 people. The region took five Grand Prix at once; one of the awards was for events marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, which is especially valuable for us,” emphasized Gleb Nikitin, Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region.

As noted by the region’s Minister of Tourism and Crafts, Sergey Yakovlev, Nizhny Novgorod Region was recognized within the award as a “Region of Event Tourism.”

“I thank the expert council for evaluating our projects. We will continue to strive for new heights and achievements,” he added.

The Grand Prix in the nomination “Best Tourist Event in the Field of Culture and Art” (among cities with a population of over 1 million) was awarded to the First International Biennale of Ecological Art.
