A woman from Nizhny Novgorod gave 400,000 rubles to scammers, wrapping the money in towels.

      December 1, 2025, 12:20 — Incidents. In the Avtozavodsky district of Nizhny Novgorod, a 91-year-old woman became a victim of a telephone scam. The pensioner gave the criminals 400,000 rubles, believing she was saving her daughter. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      According to available information, an unknown person called the pensioner and said that her daughter had allegedly been involved in a road traffic accident. The man convinced the woman that urgent treatment required a large sum of money.

      The victim wrapped 400,000 rubles in two towels and handed the money to a stranger right in the entrance of her building.

      A criminal case has been opened. Police officers are clarifying all the circumstances of the incident.

      Earlier it was reported that the pensioner had given scammers more than 3.5 million rubles over three in-person meetings in the center of Nizhny Novgorod.
