The Kstovo City Court has handed down a sentence to a 37-year-old local resident who was repeatedly detained for driving under the influence. The man was found guilty under Part 4 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the Prosecutor’s Office of the Nizhny Novgorod Region reports.
As established during the trial, the Kstovo resident had already been prosecuted for a similar offense in 2019. At that time he was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison with a subsequent ban on driving for 3 years.
However, after his release from the penal colony the man failed to learn his lesson. In August 2023 he again got behind the wheel of a Ford Focus while intoxicated.
The court, agreeing with the arguments of the prosecution, found the defendant guilty and sentenced him to 1 year and 6 months in prison to be served in a general-regime correctional colony. In addition, he is banned from driving for the next 4 years.
The vehicle used in the commission of the offense was confiscated and forfeited to the state.
Earlier it was reported that in Sarov, Nizhny Novgorod Region, a drunk driver rammed seven parked cars.
