The Nizhny Novgorod–based "Vodolet" will receive multi-million subsidies in 2025.

      Nizhny Novgorod-based company Vodolet, which operates passenger water transport, expects to receive subsidies of about 40 million rubles in 2025. These funds are intended to compensate expenses for interregional services.

      These figures were presented at a meeting dedicated to the prospects for the development of public water transport in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. The meeting was held at the Volga State University of Water Transport and was timed to coincide with Unified Parliamentary Day, reports NIA "Nizhny Novgorod."

      As specified by the regional Ministry of Transport, the federal budget will cover 50% of the cost of two high-speed vessels of the Valday 45R model. Their delivery is scheduled for 2026 and 2027.

      An additional 113.6 million rubles will be allocated from the regional budget. These funds will be used to cover costs associated with the acquisition of hydrofoil vessels under financial lease (leasing).

      In addition, the water transport operator will receive 190 million rubles to partially reimburse expenses incurred in the transportation of passengers.

      Federal subsidies are also provided to compensate operating costs of shipping companies working in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, as well as in the Chuvash Republic and the Republic of Tatarstan.

      Earlier it was reported that passenger traffic on river transport in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast increased 50-fold over five years.
