Maria Chernikova became Acting Deputy Minister of Education of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      Maria Chernikova has assumed the duties of deputy head of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. According to the ministry, she took the new position on October 1, 2025.

      Chernikova has worked in the education system since 1997. She spent more than 16 years teaching Russian language and literature. She later held various managerial positions, including in the Department of Education of the Moskovsky District of Nizhny Novgorod and in the Department of Control and Supervision in the Field of Education.

      For the past five and a half years Chernikova headed the Department of Education of the Sormovsky District. In that post she managed to implement a number of significant projects and initiatives aimed at developing the educational environment.

      According to Chernikova herself, she faces large-scale tasks requiring a systemic approach. Priorities include improving the quality of education, developing teachers’ professional potential, ensuring safety in schools, as well as supporting gifted children and creating equal opportunities for all students in the region.

      "The Minister of Education and Science emphasized the need to reformat the work of methodological services and to build an effective system for working with talented schoolchildren. We have already achieved good results, but my goal is to ensure that the region moves even further forward," Chernikova stressed.

      The Ministry of Education and Science of the Nizhny Novgorod Region wished Maria Chernikova success and new achievements in her new post.

      Earlier it was reported that Alexander Pavlov became a deputy to the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. He took up his new duties on October 1.
