A working group on cooperation with the Republic of Srpska has been established in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The corresponding decision was made during a working meeting between Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Dmitry Starostin and a delegation from the Republic of Srpska led by the Director of the Republic’s Agency for Information and Communication Technologies, Dražen Višnić. The development of international ties is being carried out in line with the goals and objectives of the national project "International Cooperation and Export."
The negotiations were attended by Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Ekaterina Solntseva, representatives of ministries, the Nizhny Novgorod Scientific and Educational Center (NOC), universities, and the medical and IT communities.
The working group will be involved in shaping a long-term partnership strategy across key areas and will also oversee the implementation of joint projects. Its membership includes representatives from the Ministry of Digital Development and Communications, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of International and Interregional Relations of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, as well as sectoral organizations in medicine, IT and research activities, and leading universities of the region.
This was the second visit of the Republic of Srpska delegation led by Dražen Višnić to the region. The first introduction took place in the summer at the CIPR conference and the Global Digital Forum, and the dialogue later continued in videoconference format. Over the past three months the parties held weekly consultations and worked on concrete proposals. The meeting focused primarily on healthcare, education and high technology. In particular, Nizhny Novgorod Regional Pharmacy is considering projects to promote medical devices, medicines and innovative solutions in areas such as oncology, cardiology, surgery and ophthalmology. The autonomous non-profit organization "Nizhny Novgorod NOC," together with Serbian partners, is preparing to launch research projects that will help translate the cooperation into practical outcomes.
"Today we identified clear directions for cooperation and concrete steps for their development. This meeting and the format we were able to build were an important stage. The cooperation we are developing with the Nizhny Novgorod Region is the largest, most vivid and most effective compared to other regions of Russia," noted Dražen Višnić.
The delegation also visited an IT university, where they discussed prospects for academic exchange and joint research. New partnership formats with Nizhny Novgorod State University named after N.I. Lobachevsky and other regional universities are actively being developed.
"The Nizhny Novgorod Region is always open to dialogue and new ideas. We see great potential in cooperation with the Republic of Srpska, especially in science, technology, education, and in promoting products of regional manufacturers. The working group will allow us to increase the effectiveness of joint activities—primarily through careful control over task completion and implementation of agreed arrangements," emphasized Dmitry Starostin.
During the negotiations, the Republic of Srpska delegation also confirmed its participation in the 6th International Forum on Foreign Economic Activity "Challenges and Solutions for Business: Territory of Successful Practices," which will be held on October 21 in Nizhny Novgorod.
Recall that the national project "International Cooperation and Export," initiated by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, is being implemented in the Nizhny Novgorod Region by the regional Ministry of Industry, Trade and Entrepreneurship. The national project includes three federal projects: "Industrial Export," "Export of Agribusiness Products," and "Systemic Measures for the Development of International Cooperation and Export."
