Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod snapped their losing streak by routing SKA.

      Hockey club "Torpedo" again defeated St. Petersburg's SKA, ending a three-game losing streak.

      The Avtozavodets beat the "Army" 5:2. This was already the second meeting between the Nizhny Novgorod team and the Petersburg club, which in the off-season was taken over by their former Torpedo coach Igor Larionov.

      Both teams started the game actively. Already in the middle of the first period the Nizhny Novgorod side opened the scoring. Andrey Belevich scored his first goal of the season — 0:1.

      In the second period the Petersburgers managed to equalize. However, after a four-minute penalty, Torpedo went ahead again. After Daniil Zhuravlyov's shot hit the post, Maxim Letunov cleaned up the puck and Vladislav Firstov pushed it into the net — 1:2.

      In the third period SKA briefly restored parity, but the Nizhny Novgorod team quickly converted a power play. With an assist from Bobby Nardella, Vlad Firstov completed a brace — 2:3. Vasily Atanasov further increased the lead, scoring a beautiful goal from a sharp angle. That goal became the forward's 100th point in the KHL. The outcome was decided, but Sergey Goncharuk put a bright finishing touch by striking into the empty net.

      The match ended 2:5 in favor of the Nizhny Novgorod side.

      Torpedo faces one more game in St. Petersburg against SKA. Igor Larionov's charges will try to take revenge on October 1.
